When it comes to Marin family photos, Mt. Tamalpais might just be the dream setting. Golden hills, ocean breeze, and that warm light that rolls through the valleys in late afternoon, it is everything a photographer could ask for.
I first met this family years ago ( in 2012) when I photographed their parents’ wedding at West Shore Café on Lake Tahoe. Since then and two kids later, we have met in many beautiful places, from Sausalito and Mill Valley to Palisades Tahoe and Tiburon. Every location tells a new chapter of their story, and this year’s session on Mt. Tam felt like the perfect continuation. This Marin family portrait session took place on one of those golden fall days that feel like summer forgot to leave. The air was warm, the sky clear, and the hills glowed. Mt. Tam is a favorite for hikers and sunset watchers, but with a little patience and good timing, I always find quiet corners that feel untouched. It is part of the challenge and joy of creating images that look serene even in a popular location.
The kids are taller now, love to explore, and the connection between them shines through every frame. That is what I love about Marin family photography, the chance to capture real, unscripted joy in such breathtaking surroundings. Fall Marin family photos at it’s best.
Every year I am reminded that these natural family portraits in Marin, Bay area or Tahoe are more than just pictures. They are proof of time passing, of love growing, and of a family who keeps showing up with open hearts. Marin family photos like these make me grateful for what I get to do. I love visiting my little subjects every year and getting to know them during a slice in time.
