Fall family session in Lake Tahoe mountains in the morning always feels special. This sweet family joined me for a mountain portrait session on an overcast morning, the kind of light that feels soft and forgiving. Snow still clung to the far peaks while the meadow below glowed with rich fall color in neon yellow. It was the perfect mix of mountain chill and autumn warmth. I love all seasons, but fall and winter have my heart.
Their youngest had just come out of a cast after six long weeks, so we took things slow and easy.

Overcast Magic and Mountain Views in Lake Tahoe
We started high in the Tahoe mountains near Alpine Meadows, where the views are majestic, then wandered into a nearby meadow alive with golden leaves. The mountains still carried a touch of snow, a reminder that winter was just around the corner. The family’s laughter and gentle patience carried through every frame, making this fall family session in Lake Tahoe one to remember.
I love sessions like this and being able to share my slice of heaven and the beautiful backdrops up here in Tahoe. The result is a collection that feels true to the season and to who they are right now — a family finding joy in the moment, no matter what each minute throws at them. Toddlers are unpredictable, and we have to laugh at that.
A family that embraces the chaos, finds joy in small moments, and celebrates milestones like finally getting that cast off.

Having been a single mom to a toddler once, I get it. I know what it takes to wrangle little ones, and I know that rigid poses and forced smiles never work. So that’s not how I shoot.
We keep things playful. We move. We follow the kids’ energy. If your two-year-old wants to inspect pinecones for five minutes, perfect. I’ll capture those little hands at work. Want to run through the meadow? Let’s go. The best images happen when everyone’s actually having fun, not holding still and hoping for the best.

Fall in Tahoe Means Golden Light and Cozy Sweaters
Fall in Tahoe brings that perfect mix of crisp air and golden light. The aspens turn bright yellow, the air smells like pine, and sweaters finally make sense again. These sessions are cozy, colorful, and full of motion.
If you’re dreaming of photos that feel warm, natural, and real, a fall family session in the Tahoe mountains is it.
