Truckee snow spring scenes. We had a dry winter. Snow was shy this year, the mountains might of been patient but the ones who love to enjoy them not so much. And then April arrived and decided to make up for it, just a little, just enough and never enough.
This morning I stepped outside to blooms everywhere and snow falling softly through them. Pink petals. White flakes. Both at once, briefly, beautifully. I grabbed my camera and stayed close to home, no lake, no big adventure. Just the neighborhood, the blossoms, that quiet mid-April magic that Truckee does so well when the seasons cannot quite agree. as a Lake tahoe photographer you know I will want to capture some scenes. Truckee snow in April is not rare it actually happens almost every year but it is always so beautiful.

I love snow. I mean I really love it. Skiing, skate skiing, snowboarding, sliding down anything and everything — I am in. So why was I not at Palisades this morning enjoying that heavy powder? Well. Last week I saved my camera from taking a swim in Lake Tahoe and the camera, ungrateful thing that it is, took my ribs down with it. I can still shoot, thankfully, but the snowboard will have to wait a little longer. Sh… happens sometimes, right?
When Truckee Snow and Spring Blooms Collide
This is not my first rodeo. I have fallen into ponds for the shot. Slipped on mossy rocks in the lake for the perfect portrait. Climbed onto ledges that made my clients nervous. I do what it takes. The camera comes first. My ribs have accepted this.
I love this place most in the in-between moments. This was one of them, bruised ribs and all.
